I like to use the WIDIOM acronym I learned from one of my mentors, Dr. Peter Dawson. This means, “Would I Do It On Me?” This helps bring clarity to solving dental problems and makes sure you get the best possible care.

The Person Behind the Practice

Dr. Kinney has been married to his wife, Lois, for over 40 years. Together, they have three children and five grandchildren, who he describes as the joy of his life. Outside the office, he enjoys time with family, playing tennis, and spending time on the water boating with friends.
Background & Experience

The Journey Behind the Care

After graduating high school in Omaha, Nebraska, Dr. Kinney moved to Indianapolis, which has been home since 1974, aside from three years serving in the U.S. Air Force Dental Corps at Langley Air Force Base in Virginia.

Guided by faith, family, and service, he remains deeply involved in both the dental profession and his community—serving as Past President of the Indianapolis District Dental Society, contributing to the Indiana Dental Association and State Peer Review Committee, working as a Clinical Instructor, and holding leadership roles within his church.

Academic Foundation

Dr. Kinney earned a B.S. in Biology from Harding University. He completed his DDS at Indiana University, graduating with honors and joining Omicron Kappa Upsilon.

Advanced Training

Dr. Kinney underwent extensive implant training at the Midwest and Misch Institutes and graduated from the American Academy of Implant Dentistry's Maxi-Course, highlighting his commitment to advanced care.

Recognized Excellence

His dedication to clinical quality and patient care has earned peer recognition, including being named among Top Dentists from 2010–2019 and achieving Master status with the Academy of General Dentistry.

Leadership in Practice

In private practice since 1985, Dr. Kinney has remained deeply involved in advancing the dental profession through leadership, education, and service within the dental community.

1. What Do You Do Away from Dentistry?

I enjoy spending time with my family in whatever situation. I am an avid tennis player and love time on the water, boating with friends.

2. What Was the Best Day of Your Life?

This is a hard question because there are many candidates. But if I had to pick one, it would be my wedding day because so many of the other ‘bests’ are connected to this one decision.

3. Who Is Your Hero?

My father, Don Kinney, is my hero. He died last year, and his lessons live on in me. He not only taught me how to be a man but also to live for a cause greater than myself.

4. What is an Interesting Fact About Yourself?

When I was in the Air Force, I was awarded a flight in the backseat of an F-15 during a training mission. I don’t know how unique that makes me, but it was an unforgettable experience.
