Restorative Dentistry FAQs
What are the benefits of CEREC Same-Day Crowns?
With CEREC Same-Day Crowns, you no longer need to wear a temporary crown or return for a second appointment. Using advanced 3D imaging and an on-site milling machine, we design, create, and permanently set your custom porcelain crown in a single visit. These are high-strength, metal-free fillings and restorations that look and feel exactly like your natural teeth.
When should I choose a bridge versus dental implants?
Crowns / bridges and dental implants are excellent for replacing missing teeth, but they function differently:
Bridges: Use the adjacent healthy teeth as anchors to “bridge” the gap. This is a faster, non-surgical solution.
Dental Implants: Replace the actual tooth root and do not require altering your neighboring teeth. During your consultation, we’ll determine which restorative option provides the best long-term stability for your specific oral health.
What is the difference between a filling and inlays and onlays?
While a standard metal-free filling is used for small cavities, inlays and onlays are used when the damage is too large for a filling but not severe enough to require a full crown.
- Inlays fit within the grooves of the tooth.
- Onlays cover one or more of the tooth’s cusps (the pointed edges). These are custom-fabricated to provide a more durable, “perfect-fit” seal than a composite filling.
Does getting a Root Canal hurt?
Modern Root Canal Therapy is a routine, tooth-saving procedure that is no more uncomfortable than getting a filling. We use precise technology to remove the infected pulp and seal the tooth to prevent further decay. This treatment is actually the fastest way to eliminate the intense pain caused by a dental infection and avoid the need for an extraction.
Are modern dentures more comfortable than they used to be?
Absolutely. Today’s dentures are designed using digital impressions for a far more accurate and secure fit. We offer full, partial, and “implant-supported” dentures. By combining dental implants with traditional dentures, we can “snap” your teeth into place, preventing the slipping and irritation often associated with old-fashioned prosthetics.
